March Madness with the Navarros

Here's to an insane month of March!  I'm excited to announce that I am actually posting the fun things we have done this past week.  The highlights have been Kiersten's clogging competition in Pocatello and a fun night out with the Aunt Molly, Aunt Nikki, and Uncle David.  Check out these sweet dance moves from Kiersten!

First some photos of her cuteness:

Here's her short duet:  (It was the first time they've ever performed a duet, so they weren't quite sure what they were supposed right at the very end.)

Here are her solos:  (One of them I missed because I hit the wrong button, urg!)

Here are her team dances.  They received a 1st on Chasing the Sun and a 2nd on the Fireworks one.

Kiersten's team qualified for Nationals at Lagoon in May.  She has also qualified for her individual solos - which also means they can do their duet there, even though that one scored a 2nd.  So proud of my sweet little princess!

This is Michael's way of having fun at a dance competition:

Now that you have seen a whole dance recital on this blog, we shall proceed with the next evening's events:  the Family Pizza Party.
Michael really liked the fan.
So funny!

Jonathan's mischievous look.

Now that's a big pizza.  What are we supposed to do with it?  Are you for real?

Look carefully at Kiersten's psycho scary face!!!

Here is a bonus video of Michael jumping in the Johnny-Jump-Up.  A rare moment indeed.  He usually is content to sit and not move in it.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little of our family...finally.  :-)

Mid-October Madness!

I keep thinking things will settle down and I'll be able to pull my house back together.  But honestly, most days it doesn't feel like that will ever happen!  It seems like the older I get, the less time I have during the day.  Why is that?

Here are some highlights from this past week:

Michael is growing so fast!  We are having a hard time keeping up with his many growth spurts!  He has started cooing and has the best smiles - especially right after he gets changed.  He melts my heart!

Jonathan loves preschool.  He is practicing his letter writing skills on the front glass door while waiting for his ride.  The postcard pictures are from the piano app on my ipad.  The ipad actually recognizes the sound from our piano.  The kids learn skills such as sight-reading, tempo, and note names from the program.  Now I seem like a really up-to-date piano teacher.

I went to Kiersten's parent-teacher conference this past week.  No shocker there - she is doing awesome in school.  She has also become very excited about piano and spends quite a bit of time practicing.  She enjoys using the ipad app we have that enhances the piano experience.  Crazy technology!

Benjamin is also doing well in school.  He even made a video with his dad about a water filter project they made for his Outdoor Survival Class.  Overachievers!  But hey, it's way cool.  He had his last soccer game this week and scored 2 goals.

I had the opportunity to give a presentation to the Idaho Falls Rotary Club last Wednesday.  Kind of a nerve-racking experience, but I guess I'm getting used to going way out of my comfort zone.

Johnnie and his brothers are working on our kitchen floor while I finish repainting.  Perhaps we will actually get our kitchen finished this week.  That would be nice!  (Notice that lovely banister - it is one thing that is actually completed!  More photos next week on the before and after of our kitchen.)

Last Saturday we went to the Love for Laynie fundraiser for my cousin's little one-year old daughter who has cancer.  It was really neat to see our community pull together to support their family.

That is the short version of our week.  You can be impressed that I actually blogged two weeks in a row.  Next week I may even try inserting video clips.

October Beginnings

I realize this will come as a shock to my family members, but I am officially starting our family blog.  My goal is to update it every Sunday so we can keep everyone up to date on our day to day life adventures.

This past week was crazy busy.  Isn't every week?

Benjamin played two soccer games.  The Saturday game was way fun!  He made 4 of the 7 goals for their team (the Titans).

After a fabulous game, Benjamin and Johnnie went with our friends, the Parkers, to a professional soccer game down in Salt Lake City, Real vs. San Jose Earthquakes.  Real won 2:0.

The weekend before this crazy soccer one, Benjamin, Johnnie, Tío Robin, and Tío Derick went to the Priesthood Session of General Conference and then headed to Big Jud's afterwards to share a rather large hamburger.

Meanwhile, Kiersten has been enjoying 3rd grade and clogging.  She is working hard to grow out her hair (she puts special shampoo and oil on it to keep it healthy) and flips it around every chance she gets.  She is very proud of her hair!  What a little pre-teen!

Jonathan has been busy helping me around the house.  He loves to help take care of Michael, clean the bathrooms, and vacuum the floors.  He seems to have the longest attention span for cleaning (out of all the kids) and just loves to be helpful.  In preschool he is learning the letters A-J along with several sight words and some Spanish words.  He is actually catching on to Spanish quite well, especially since we are being more diligent in speaking Spanish in our home every other day.

And then there is Michael.  He is 8 weeks old tomorrow and growing like crazy.  He has just started cooing at us and really lays on the smiles.  He is just plain adorable.

And, to wrap up, we just want to say "Bienvenida" to our new little adorable niece, Emily Andrea.  She was born on Thursday afternoon (October 9th), weighed 7 lbs and measured 18."  Look at all that hair!
